Home Staging - Prepare Your Home To Show Better
    by Dorine Verhoeff

You have 5 seconds to sell your home! The average buyer forms an opinion ad makes the decision to buy your home within the first five seconds after they enter. Some, before they even walk through the front door.

Curb appeal not only attracts buyers, it literally sells your home. If your entry is hard to reach or doesn't show well, fix it. Plant a trail of flowers along the edge of your sidewalk, or spotlight the front door with an elegant porch lamp.

Give your home a welcome glow with an entry setting that says, "Welcome." Even a small porch has room for a wreath or a welcome mat. The word "Welcome" invites your buyer to come in, be comfortable, and stay.

If you want a speedy sale at top dollar, you'll want to take a few moments and set the stage for your buyer. Home staging prepares your home for showings and open houses. Here are a few suggestions for staging your home:

    1) Rearrange accessories for clutter free appearance.

    2) Remove any boxes or cartons from your home.

    3) Turn on the lights and open the curtains.

    4) Shine any surfaces and add crystal for sparkle.

    5) Set the table for a dinner party and light the candles.

    6) Plump all pillows and make the beds.

    7) Check the temperature - it should be warm in the winter, cool in the summer.

    8) Run a last minute check of all bathrooms and hang fresh towels.

    9) Wipe down all counters with a fresh scented cleaner.

    10) Light a candle.
